7HOFM APPLE FOR THE TEACHER
Wanting to recognise the important contribution that teachers make to the lives of students, 7HO FM runs an Apple for the Teacher competition each year.
The community had the opportunity to nominate their favourite primary teacher and then vote for the most outstanding one.
Over 400 fabulous teachers were nominated in Southern Tasmania, including 12 from the College.
On the morning of the announcement the Grade 5 students came together to listen to the radio in the hope that one of their teachers would be named the competition's favourite teacher. The College had three Grade 5 teachers in the top 10. 3rd place winner was Grade 5 Green teacher, Miss Tara Lewis and the winner, with almost 16,500 votes, was Grade 5 Blue teacher, Mrs Su Heyward.
Su has been a teacher at the College since 1986 and has taught hundreds of students over this time, including the 3rd place winner, Miss Lewis.
Current and past students, along with their families, speak highly of Su's enthusiasm and her kind and caring nature. Su's approachable attitude provides guidance and support to both students and her colleagues. Su, we are very lucky to have you as part of or College Community.
Su won an Apple Mac Book Air and each student in Grade 5 Blue won an Apple iPad. Due to delivery delays Su and her students will be receiving their prizes at the end of the month.
