PARISH COMMUNITY AND OUTREACH

FATHER'S DAY PROJECT

We hope all Fathers, Stepfathers, Pops, Grandads and special blokes in our lives had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed some quality time with the family. Thanks to the Grade 5/6 Outreach Group, Vinnies students and Parish Associates Hannah and Robert for all the time and effort they put in to making over 600 Father’s Day gift packs for all of our primary students. We’d love to see how your sunflowers go and who can grow the tallest!

YOUTH GROUP

Kingston Channel Parish Youth Group is in full swing with young people from four different schools/colleges so far joining together in a range of activities. Last week we made Father’s Day origami and played ball games on the oval. The week before, we explored this year's Social Justice Sunday theme: To Live Life to the Full. We watched a brief explanation by Bishop Vincent Long and discussed what it means to us. See our display at the back of the church to catch up on what has been happening this term at Youth Group and see us living life to the full!

VINNIES WINTER APPEAL

Congratulations to the Grade 9/10s who raised $74 with their pizza lunch fundraiser. Sorry, we have no photos as the pizzas disappeared too quickly! Also well done to the Grade 5 and 6s who dressed up for an amazing ‘Cosplay’ Day and raised a wonderful $173.90. This money will be added to the Grade 7/8 sausage sizzle money (still to be confirmed) to help the most vulnerable in our local community.

PREP AND GRADE 1 GODLY PLAY

Prep and Grade 1 classes have recently enjoyed the experience of hearing the Baptism story in Godly Play. They watched the actions, were given the chance to be ‘Godparents’ and each were given a tealight to hold, a symbol of the light within them. Mrs Marriott would like to commend all the students on their respectful and reverent manner in the convent. Grade 1 White also created some beautiful Baptism artwork which is on display in the Kingston Campus foyer.

VINNIES SLEEPOUT

We are pleased to announce that $144.10 was raised from our recent Vinnies Sleepout in support of the Kingborough Loui’s Van. Simon Terhell from Vinnies Hobart and Enda Pennicott of Kingborough Helping Hands will collect a cheque from our brave participants at the next Huntingfield assembly in Week 10.
