Ms Susanna Bond

Acting Co-Principal

Mrs Susan McGann

Acting Co-Principal

Christ come into our world of darkness

Light up our lives with your coming

Fulfil all our longings with the joy of your birth

Strengthen our resolve to work for change in our world

And to share the hope of your birth that each ADVENT brings

Amen

In coming to the end of this challenging and different year, it is timely to reflect on all that has contributed to our journey. Whilst this year may not have unfolded as we would have imagined, and there is disappointment in all the might have been - there is much for which to be thankful. Our students and staff have certainly learnt new ways of doing things, they have learnt new skills and have had experiences which have brought them closer to each other. They have become learners who are flexible, creative and resilient - all fine qualities.

A sense of joy accompanies this end of the year as we reflect on all we have achieved both personally and as a College - all when managing a pandemic. We sincerely thank our students, staff and parent community for your ongoing support throughout this year, but especially during the Learning@ Home phase. Since our return, we have appreciated your compliance with the many restrictions we have had to put in place. We remain hopeful that next year will see us move back closer to normalcy.

A number of staff are leaving us this year. Some of these staff have been at St Aloysius for a number of years and others on short term contracts. We thank each of them for their service and their unique contributions to the community at SACC and wish them well in their future careers.

Kingston Campus Orientation

On Monday, students experienced our ‘Step Up’ morning where they moved to their 2021 classes and met their new classmates and teacher/s for next year. There was much excitement as they learnt about what they will experience next year and checked out their classrooms. We also welcomed a number of new families to the College, we hope they will enjoy their journey at St Aloysius.

Kingston Campus Athletic Carnival

Following our Step Up morning, our Kindergarten students participated in their Athletics Carnival on the top oval. The very warm weather was such a contrast to last year when we had to cancel due to rain! Kindergarten enjoyed the opportunity to be together as a cohort - this is the only day in the year when all three classes come together.

Our Prep to Grade 2 Athletics Carnival was held on the top oval on Wednesday. Thank you to Mrs White for your excellent organisation. The carnival was a lot of fun and students enjoyed competing for their house.

Thanksgiving Liturgy and Awards Ceremony

This morning, the College celebrated the achievements of a number of students in the annual Thanksgiving Liturgy and Awards Ceremony. Fr Chris Hope led the liturgy for the last time in his role as Parish Priest for our community. Both he and Joe Sandric were formally farewelled at the ceremony by students and staff. Sadly, it was not possible to invite parents to the event this year, due to Covid restrictions. However, the event was filmed and will be accessible to the community later this week.

The Grade 10 student leaders for 2021 were inducted into their new roles at the ceremony and the Grade 10s were farewelled by all of their peers.

Many staff and students participated in the ceremony or were involved in the organisation and preparation. We thank everyone who contributed today.
