JUNIOR CAMPUS
Kinder Beach Excursions
Students in Kindergarten are excited that they have commenced their beach/bush kinder program. As part of this program, they visit Boronia Beach every fortnight and spend time exploring this beautiful environment.
Contact with nature is critical for our physical, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing. It has positive effects on our ability to concentrate, learn, solve problems, relax and be creative. Children who learn outdoors improve their nature-literacy, becoming more confident and empathetic towards the natural world helping children connect with nature, building the future generation of advocates and custodians of the land.
Whilst at Boronia we particularly enjoy climbing, exploring, using our imaginations and investigating using our five senses. On our last visit, we were even fortunate enough to see a baby joey in its mother’s pouch. We use additional provocations to further our learning in this outdoor environment including magnifying glasses, a 'poo flip chart' to investigate some of the animal droppings and the aboriginal expertise of A.J. who accompanied Kinder White on their first visit and provided a wealth of information to the Kinder class. All three Kinder classes are starting to investigate bush tucker food including the she-oak and salt bush that can be found at Boronia beach and are having so much fun on our outings to Boronia beach.

Grade 1 Churches Excursion
Last Thursday all Grade 1 classes went on an excursion as part of their unit of work titled, We Are the Church.
We met Deacon Michael at St Aloysius Church in Kingston, walked around and sketched St John’s church in Richmond and met Sister Monica at St Mary’s Cathedral and had a tour.
It was a big day for us all but everyone enjoyed being out of the classroom, learning about the history of some of our Catholic churches.
