State SATIS Athletics Carnival 2025

On Tuesday, 25th March, 35 students rose early to travel to Launceston, where they represented the College at the State SATIS Athletics Carnival. Our team needed to arrive at school early, with the first bus for our athletes competing early on in the program departing at 5:30am, followed by the second bus for the rest of the team at 6:00am. On arrival, it was a team effort to unload gear and set up our gazebos, with students being called to marshall very soon after.

Our team achieved remarkable results overall, and they should take great pride in their hard work, with many stepping up to participate in various events. We would like to extend our congratulations to Year 8 student Lewis Thorp for his exceptional performance, as he shattered the U14 boys Javelin record with an impressive throw of 54.55 metres, surpassing the closest competitor by 22 metres. This record had stood for 41 years!

Primary Inter-School Swimming Carnivals

JSATIS Swimming Carnival
The Primary Swimming Team has been quite active, participating in two swimming carnivals in just one week. Our Year 4-6 students were the first to compete, marking the College's inaugural appearance at the Junior SATIS Swimming Carnival on 20th March. Although it was a long day at the Hobart Aquatic Centre, we are proud of our team and their representation of the College, demonstrating remarkable resilience as they adapted to a new carnival format.

STCPSSA Swimming Carnival
The next carnival was the STCPSSA Swimming Carnival on 28th March, with our Year 3 students joining the Year 4-6 students this time. The day was shorter, as St Aloysius competed in the Gold Division, allowing us to spend only a few hours at the pool. During this time, our students were kept busy competing in events, one following another, making for a highly enjoyable afternoon.

Congratulations to both teams for their participation at the two carnivals.
